Our Programs

Good Beginnings’ programs operate in every state and territory in Australia, with new programs being introduced all the time. All programs are externally evaluated before expansion to other sites and work from a strengths-based perspective for children, families and local communities in a way that respects their dignity, capacity, rights, uniqueness and commonalities. There are now 500 volunteers trained by Good Beginnings.

5 Program Pillars

The programs are framed within five organisational pillars:

Child Focused Community Development

Projects that support child-focused capacity building for the community in partnership with local services, business and government.

Universal Supported Groups

A wide range of play-based and educational groups that help build self esteem of both parents and children to enhance relationships between them.

Volunteer Family Support

A service to parents of children at risk, where the family is partnered with a trained and locally supervised volunteer, who is usually a parent.

Targeted Play Groups

Designed to address the needs of families with more complex issues. These might include incarceration, or where the family has come to the notice of child protection services.

Intensive Family Support

A program that provides professional support and parenting intervention over an extended period for families with complex needs.

Helping Parents

Information for where to get help.

Training

Good Beginnings Australia offers specialised training and presentations that aim to enhance, promote and support the programs and philosophies of Good Beginnings Australia.
